Chiropractic Care

Adjustments

Chiropractic mainly focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of biomechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system. This encompasses not just the spine, but the entire body. Adjustments (manipulations) are performed with the goal of correcting misalignments, alleviating pain, improving function, and supporting the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

In some cases, we utilize physical therapy modalities such as electrical muscle stimulation and ultrasound to manage symptoms and facilitate the healing process.

Lumbar Flexion/Distraction

Flexion/Distraction Technique is used to treat mechanical injuries and issues involving the lumbar spine. A special treatment table is used that moves up and down, and side to side; providing traction, which mobilizes the spinal and sacro-iliac (SI) joints, addresses disc compression, and decreases spasm in the surrounding soft tissue. Multiple studies have shown this specific technique to decrease intradiscal pressure thereby hydrating a degenerated disc or helping to decrease the severity of disc herniations.

Manual Therapy

Graston Technique®

Soft tissue injuries can be debilitating and frustrating. Graston Technique® is successful in effectively treating all soft tissue conditions, whether they are chronic, acute or post surgical. This non-invasive technique uses specially designed stainless steel instruments to help identify and treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation. As the instruments are moved over the affected area and come in contact with the adhesions, they help break up scar tissue and fascial restrictions. Dr. Solano has received extensive training to become a  Certified Graston Technique® Specialist.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a treatment technique used to help resolve soft tissue dysfunction. This unique procedure is designed to specifically target and restore muscle and tissue function. It is essential to correct these issues because continued activity with poor muscle function can lead to further damage and increased pain.

Dry needling uses a very fine needle to penetrate the skin and stimulate underlying muscular and connective tissue trigger points. Trigger points are tight bands of skeletal muscles, or “knots,” located within a larger muscle group, and can be tender to the touch. Dry needling can reduce muscle tension and spasms, decrease inflammation, reduce tissue adhesions, and accelerate a patient’s return to active rehabilitation.

Fascial Stretch Therapy - COMING SOON!

Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) is an innovative stretch therapy originally designed for professional athletes.
Unlike massage or other stretching techniques, FST starts at the joint capsule and focuses on planes of tissue and lines of muscles and fascia, not just individual muscles.

Who benefits from FST?
  • Professional Athletes
  • Weekend Warriors
  • People with tight hips or shoulders
  • People who spend much of their day sitting
  • People with lower back pain

Recovery

Deep Tissue Laser Therapy

Laser Therapy is an FDA cleared modality that reduces inflammation and ultimately results in pain reduction. Laser Therapy is effective in treating acute pain, chronic conditions and post-op pain by using specific wavelengths of light. Light energy enters the damaged cells and utilizes your body’s own healing powers by stimulating cellular activity. This reduces pain in the area and speeds recovery of the damaged cells. Once the cells recover, the healing process is complete. The swelling is greatly reduced and there is a rapid relief of pain.  Over 100 professional and collegiate teams utilize the LightForce™ Deep Tissue Therapy Laser to keep their athletes in the game and performing at a high level, including 16 current NFL teams. These teams are using laser therapy to achieve quick and lasting pain relief for acute conditions, chronic ailments and to accelerate post-surgical recovery.

Pneumatic Compression

Recovery should be viewed as an integral part of every athlete’s training. NormaTec Compression Therapy is a dynamic compression device designed for recovery and rehab. It uses compressed air to massage your limbs, mobilize fluid, and speed recovery. Similar to the kneading and stroking done during a massage, each segment of the attachment will first compress in a pulsing manner and then release. This will repeat for each segment of the attachment as the compression pattern works its way up your limb.

This treatment is excellent for:
  • reducing swelling
  • reducing pain
  • increasing ranges of motion

Support

Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiology taping is a therapeutic and rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. It also can provide extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered by Dr. Solano during your visit. This method successfully treats a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and other medical conditions, and it not only offers the support patients are looking for, but also rehabilitation of the affected condition as well. By targeting different receptors within the somatosensory system, the taping method alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin. This lifting effect forms convolutions in the skin, thus increasing interstitial space and allowing for a decrease in inflammation of the affected areas.

Corrective Exercises

Corrective exercise or therapeutic exercises are designed to address and correct deficiencies that deviate from normal ranges. We teach our patients special "blueprint" exercises designed just for them to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in our office and in the comfort of your own home to drastically improve the effectiveness of your treatment. The goal is to restore normal muscle function, normal range of motion, and improve strength.

Corrective exercises, including the following, are easy to integrate into your daily routine:

  • Stretching
  • Foam rolling
  • Resistance band strengthening
  • Functional body weight movements
  • Yoga poses
