Chiropractic manipulation (adjustments), which are high-velocity, low-force techniques, are used by chiropractors to restore motion to the joints in the spine and extremities. Back pain can be caused by trauma and postural overstrain. This can cause entrapment of the synovial folds in the facet joints of the spine, which can lead to pain, spasm, and swelling. Adjustments can free up the synovial folds, providing pain relief.
Flexion/Distraction Technique is used to treat mechanical injuries and issues involving the back and neck. A special treatment table is used that moves up and down, and side to side; providing traction, which mobilizes the spinal and sacro-iliac (SI) joints, addresses disc compression, and decreases spasm in the surrounding soft tissue. Multiple studies have shown this specific technique to decrease intradiscal pressure thereby hydrating a degenerated disc or helping to decrease the severity of disc herniations.
Soft tissue injuries can be debilitating and frustrating. Graston Technique® is successful in effectively treating all soft tissue conditions, whether they are chronic, acute or post surgical. This non-invasive technique uses specially designed stainless steel instruments to help identify and treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation. As the instruments are moved over the affected area and come in contact with the adhesions, they help break up scar tissue and fascial restrictions.
Dry Needling is not acupuncture, but rather a technique that adheres to a western medicine approach to decrease pain in your muscles. The goal is to restore normal muscle and joint function. This technique is used in conjunction with a comprehensive evaluation that complements some of our other treatment techniques.
The procedure uses a solid filament needle to treat muscle trigger points. These points are a highly localized, hyper-irritable spot in a taught band of skeletal muscle fibers. These muscle trigger points play a role in producing and maintaining the pain cycle. They can alter muscle performance, as well as generate pain along common referral patterns. These points develop in muscle for various reasons, including referred or local pain, inflammation, athletic injury or other causes.
Laser Therapy is an FDA cleared modality that reduces inflammation and ultimately results in pain reduction. Laser Therapy is effective in treating acute pain, chronic conditions and post-op pain by using specific wavelengths of light. Light energy enters the damaged cells and utilizes your body’s own healing powers by stimulating cellular activity. This reduces pain in the area and speeds recovery of the damaged cells. Once the cells recover, the healing process is complete. The swelling is greatly reduced and there is a rapid relief of pain. Over 100 professional and collegiate teams utilize the LightForce™ Deep Tissue Therapy Laser to keep their athletes in the game and performing at a high level, including 16 current NFL teams. These teams are using laser therapy to achieve quick and lasting pain relief for acute conditions, chronic ailments and to accelerate post-surgical recovery.
